- Important Information about the Instructor Certification Process:
- Becoming an AHA BLS Instructor involves several key steps: 1. Hold a Current BLS Provider Card All instructor candidates must have a current AHA BLS Provider card, and we must have a copy on file. If you do not have one, you can register for a BLS class here: https://medwayemseducators.com/calendar/
- 2. Complete the Online Instructor Essentials Course This required prerequisite from the American Heart Association must be purchased separately at: https://shopcpr.heart.org/bls-instructor-essentials-online-core It must be completed prior to attending the in-person course. Once completed, please forward
- your certificate to us - we are required to keep a copy for our records.
- 3. Purchase the AHA Instructor Manual You may purchase a hard copy here: https://shopcpr.heart.org/bls-instructor-manual Or download a digital version here: https://shopcpr.heart.org/bls-instructor-manual-ebook You must have the manual with you during the in-person class.
- We recommend a hard copy, as it may be easier to use during the exam.
- 4. Attend the In-Person Instructor Course This live class, taught by our experienced team will cover: • Core teaching skills and course logistics • AHA instructional standards 5. Prepare and Practice After the in-person course: • Gather your equipment and materials • Practice your presentation and delivery
- 6. Monitoring by an AHA Training Center Faculty When you are ready, we will schedule your monitoring session. During this session, we will evaluate your: • Content • Quality of instruction • Delivery Upon successful completion, you will receive your official AHA Instructor certification card.
